About the UIC Leadership Retreat
Each August since 2003 the UIC Leadership Retreat has convened 250+ of UIC’s administrative and intellectual leaders to review the state of the campus and national issues of importance to higher education. Keynote speakers from recent years have included the following:
- In 2015, new UIC Chancellor Michael Amiridis and new University of Illinois President Timothy Killeen introduced their respective visions for the campus and the university.
- In 2014, as part of discussing “The Spectrum of Success,” Nancy L. Zimpher, Chancellor of the SUNY system, delivered the speech “Educating More People, and Educating Them Better…” describing SUNY’s experience with transforming its educational enterprise.
- In 2013, distinguished economist David Audretsch from the University of Indiana spoke on the role of the modern university in economic development and innovation, to support the theme “UIC: Scholarship in Action.”
